So I would like to apply the hardener to areas on a tree that is either rotten or dead.

Since there are also live veins and branches to what I think are semi dead areas, would their be implications from using the hardener on the live tissues of the tree?

All tips and advice welcomed.. cheersf

First you must clean out any rot by carving, then a good idea to burn and dry out with a small flame thrower, then steel brush it clean leaving some fire colour if you like and then apply earls to treated areas... Thats it no more no less...

Thanks Antonio.. the area of concern is down low at the base of the trunk which has several good size branches being a pine.

My fear is that the resin will solidfy the whole area killing off any nutrient pathways to be passed up the tree.. thoughts?

Thats where trees usally rot, at the BASE... wood does not carry nutrient so as long as you re not messin the cambium too much. pm sent.
