Hi All,
I am using the school holidays to work my way down the benches trimming.
Today it was, among other things, time to trim the Corky Bark Chinese Elm.
I am not sure whether the pot helps or hinders?

Michael - I'm taking a punt that the second photo is the front? It is a good tree with some nice branching but I do think that the pot distracts from the tree. My feelings are something more understated so that it does not detract from the tree.

Thanks Watto,
I did wonder whether the pot was a bit overstated.

Hello!
I'm not saying you should, but if this were my tree I would chop/layer the entire left trunk off right at the base (second photo).
Reason being, the right side of the second photo is an excellent little tree, it would be great on it's own. Also the trunk on the left side of the second photo is long and straight, if you layer it off and bung it in the ground for a while you'll have excellent material to work with, but it currently seems too cluttered as part of your composition. Just food for thought - branch/trunk removal is bloody drastic and takes a long time to fix if you don't like it.
Try covering the trunk in question with a white cloth on a white background for an idea of what I'm on about.
