Hi Edward Scissorhand , mate you have 2 very nice tree's there . I most certainly appreciate flowering Bonsai , don't have anywhere near enough , most of my Crab apples and Plums are very young seed grown stock but in a few years there should be some rippers .Thanks for posting .

Cheers Alpine

Thanks Alpine for the feedback, I am in the same boat as you as I have plenty of small stock. Hopefully one day, all of our trees will be masterpieces :tu:
Heres one of my small ones, its a double flowering apricot:

Edward, I too love trees with a seasonal change, eg, flowers, berries and autumn foliage. They are a great little pair of trees. That Prunus Elvins has a good trunk size but as you can see has a bad habit of suckering, and the crab looks great too. :tu:

Hi Edward , haven't got an Apricot , are those flowers actually white ? . Ithink i had better invest in some more flowering species as well as more natives . Change is always slow , bit slower this end .

Cheers Alpine

Hakimoto: Thanks for the feedback Haki, yep its suckering pretty badly. But Im leaving it so I can take some cuttings later on. :D

Alpine: Yep, those flowers are white. By the way they have a good range on this website for native tubestocks http://www.nativegrowth.com.au/New_Shop ... ex&cPath=6

Gorgeous day with clear blue skies. Worked on this Crab Apple cascade. Give it decade or so, it should be a nice bonsai. Feel free to comment:

Nice movement, good colour. Keep the top pinched back - I lost the tail of a cascade crab this year because I was slack. Or maybe plant the whole thing at an upwards angle while it fattens.

Thats a good idea Gavin, I never thought about that. Letting it grow upwards to fatten it initially before making it into a cascade. Thanks

Did some bonsai cleaning on an azalea this morning. This is from 20cm pot nursery stock material that I purchased from three bears nursery in castle hill about 10 years ago. Its a Kinsai, not flowering at the moment. The basic structure is there, but need work tightening the foliage pads. Give it another 5 or more years, it will look decent.

Morning Edward,

If I may offer some suggestion.
DSC00799.JPG
The branches inside the larger circle could be removed once they have done their job if increasing the butt of the trunk and if you are then missing the foliage mass there you could tilt the pot and bend down the main trunk inside the smaller circle to cover some of this.
It has really nice sinuous movement, once that beefs up it is going to make a very powerful tree.
Kinsai is a great performer amongst the Satsuki, love to see it in flower

Hi Edward, the third pic is called Dogwood, believe it or not. Kinsai is a Satsuki so should flower in late Oct/Nov.
