As I am a member of the Satsuki Society of Australasia, I receive their Newsletter.
In the August edition there is an advertisement for the sale of Arthur Robinson's entire collection of Satsuki.
I do not know how many but I am pretty sure its the largest in Australia!
It might be nice to bring some over to the east side of Oz
I have requested his persmission to republish his ad here so here it is:

Arthur says he'd prefer the collection to stay together, if possible. I can't see that happening, unless a friendly millionnaire digs deep into his pocket, but you never know....
Getting the plants here and acclimatising them to our Canberra climate is another problem. People at the Coast have a better chance.
Poor Arthur, he has my sympathy, as I know from experience how debilitating osteoarthritis is.

From what I have been told from Arthur he wants the collection to stay together as it is the largest collection of Satsuki in Australia and the price is around $35,000. Arthur has over 100 different cultivars and some very nice imported trees.

Hi,
Moments after the initial post was up i called arthur. I had a bit of a chat about everything except bonsai...
Then i asked some questions...as stated above he has the 'largest collection in the country' and will sell each and every one. He has taken a handful of cuttings that he will keep and work on.
I asked about shipping, restrictions etc...he said he was happy to post/courier. He mentioned that he had done this before moving trees and accepting trees.
We kept talking and eventually he siad he will make a list of each indiciual plant, write a small blurb and give it a price.
I think he may have changed his mind about selling trees individually...but i guess we have to wait n see...wish i had 35k spare!
I followed up the phone call with an email and he said he will send me the list!
Once i receive it... will post up here...i have a feeling i will not be able to afford a single tree
All in all a cool guy and get ready to be awed people...

Thank you in advance, billa.
As many people know, there are more or less secret bonsai collectors in the country, whose magnificent collections are not open to the general public, but only to a small, select number of friends. For ex. one of these people, who would certainly have the capital, might buy Arthur's Azalea collection in part; they could not be bothered with any trees except the top ones, i.e. those of world class. No need to say that we, the general public, and especially the bonsai growers and -artists, would never see those exceptional Azaleas again. However, we'd be left with the second choice ones and the young plants, and that is something.
On the other hand, if Arthur agreed to break up his collection, the best trees might be bought by individual bonsai growers or by clubs, or donated to the NBPCA (let's dream on....), and thus could be shown to the general public, for their continuing enjoyment.
I hope Arthur has thought of those questions.
And more than aanything I hope that if the Azalea collection is bought by a collector, that he or she turns out to be a philantropist.......

What will the customs situation be from WA to eastern states? I advise caution if it is anything like it was a couple of years ago. Methyl Bromide is no friend of the Rhododendron.
Sorry to put a dampener on things eastern states

There have been many trees from the west over here, natives, and in particular new types of Satsuki cuttings.
