picked up this cedar a short while back for the princely sum of $10along with a few unremarkable pencil thick examples that im going to play around with extreme angle bending, something i'll put up later. - i liked the way this one flowed and some nice lumpy root structure downside (or challenge) is this trunk split I'd like to get it into a crescent pot one day, for now i think ill just sit and stare at it

Definitely a bargain, A few years growing to do but enjoy the vision of it in its crescent pot one day.

i've got limited experience with any evergreens. if I just cut out that big V split I dont like will it heal over - eventually, or should i be looking more at taking one off and leaving the other as a long term sacrifice?

I would be getting stuck into it now. It needs sorting out and will make a lovely semi cascade. They are slow to set into place so sorting out the style and wiring it into place would be my priority.

thats this weekends spare time taken then. That golden cedar in the progression thread was the reason i grabbed this one, i think ill just chop and get wiring, as it doesnt appear to be quite ready to throw new growth yet - im in no rush with it, so if i get a little sap leakage and some slow progress over the next few years not such a big issue
