Today i found some me time and used it to go scratching around in the bush, my wife new what i was up to and i just looked at her and said yeah i've lost me marbles again. Ended up finding this big one, not sure if it would be better in a garden but i quite like the look of it and will try and find a way to display it, might even get the tools out and make a stand for it because its to big for any pot i own. I put the temple in just for a bit of fun and to see how it looks.
Thanks for having a look,
Mark

The rock has contours that remind me of rocky headlands projecting into the ocean. The temple helps to give it that scale, but I'm getting my head messed up about the figurine thing - should we be using Chinese images that get very close to kitsch, or should we look for local references? Maybe a small-scale developer's mansion perched on the headland, proudly surveying all that he bought, sold and screwed up on the way? Or is that too political? Will we have Chinese philosophers drinking tea under gum trees? Or a couple of GenZ kids, one texting, one on his laptop, and both oblivious to each other and to the tree that shelters them.

As I said, I'm getting my head messed up. What world do our trees/rocks/scenes reflect?

It's a nice rock. And the temple made me think.

Alls good, i know what your saying Gavin and i agree with you. the temple was just a bit of fun and the rock is outsibe with me trees without it and it looks much better. I have decided to get me tools out so i will post it with a stand when i finish it.
Thanks
Mark.

I'm old, Ken. This stuff just happens, like arthritis and forgetfulness.

   Gavin you are a crackup! I loved the " Maybe a small-scale developer's mansion perched on the headland " You left out the helicopter pad. The vivid description hardly conjures up a vision of the exotic which we all like to loose ourselves in occasionally. Let us have our fantasies. :tu:
