I absolutely love trident maples and would have to say they are my favourite species to work on and have as bonsai. I love the colour they produce in autumn. I moved house a couple of years ago where we now get colder nights. I love the colour my tridents have produced this year. Here are a few.

They are nice. Unfortunately most of mine do not colour well as it is a bit too warm where I live

I get only a little colour on Trident maples, OK for liquid ambers and Pin Oaks, but not much on anything else.

Very nice!!! Great colors! I like the root-over-rock bonsai here the most. The green pot of it is excellent too.

Si, the root over rock trident is a big fav of mine. I was one week too late in taking its photos as a third of the leaves had already fallen due to a windy day. The pot is a japanese signiture pot with a wonderful glaze. Wish I had more of these for some of my other trees.

The second tree's pot was a rare find where a very old lady made this pot back in 1950's and it had an yellow/orange/reddish glaze. Thought it would be perfect for this tree in autumn and it has come up pretty good.

All my trees are in full sun year round in Melbourne. Actually I do move them into shade when the forecast is for 40degC days. The first trident is quite large, probably 80cm to 100cm tall and it produced the deepest red colour this year and it is totally in full sun. The small tridents have a little bit of protection but that is more from the wind drying them out rather than the sun. Hope that helps.
