Is it too late to collect a wisteria? The buds have just burst does this matter?

Go for it, I've dug them successfully in mid summer and reckon you can dig them any time.

Sorry to hijack but I have just found out a workmate has a glorious wisteria at his property and has said I'm free to take cuttings, is this good to do all yr round too?

Golgotha, you could do cuttings any time from now until early summer or you could air layer some of the bigger more interesting pieces off it, make sure you propagate from wood which has flowered or your'll be waiting a very long time for the new plants to flower.

Also remove the flower buds so the tree can put energy into growth instead.
