Found near Atherton Tablelands..??






The 'nebari'is about 3 ft diameter - and fused...


These are cross limbs - under the canopy-with fusing...

The tree itself is about the size of a house, with a wide canopy...
There seems to be the stump of a 'host' tree down amongst the gnarled base...
Quite a few of the thicker horizontal branches have fused...
There is a proliferance of small green (unripe) fruits on the stems between the leaf axils...
Some are red (ripened)...
The bark is greyish and smooth - has patches of lichen...
I wonder what sp this is...??

Looks like F. benjamina to me which is fairly ubiquitous all up the east coast. Fruit can be orange to red when ripe. Are the branches growing in the shaded part of the tree more weeping?

Yes - I think the stems and leaves on the southerly aspect are drooping lower...
I haven't acquired a 'wild' Benji as yet...
So with the permission of the landowner,I will secure some snips and cuttings tomorrow...
