hey guys i picked this up on my way home from work this afternoon
an i thought it had potential so i got it gave it a trim
i wanted to re pot it but i was not sure if its too early to do that?
then i took it out of its pot to have a look
there was this white fungus hairy spider egg looking stuff all over the lower half of the roots
is this something to be worried about?
and what should i do to fix it if it is?
and when i pot it up do i have to leave the rootball intact?
or should i leave the original soil?

any help would be appreciated

White stuff on the roots looks a lot like fungal mycelium - that's the growing part of a fungus. Most are harmless, some help feed the roost and a few are nasty and kill roots. Probably no point worrying about it, just wait and see. A fungicide would probably kill it if you are really worried.

Now should be a good time to repot this juniper. You can cut off 2/3 of the roots without harming the plant and will probably have to if you want to get it into a suitable pot.
Whether you leave any original potting mix depends on what condition the old mix is in. This mix looks ok so could be left but I always like to get new plants into the mix I am used to so watering and feeding is easier - all trees in the same mix. These roots do not look too matted so old mix should comb out easily and new mix will go in ok too.
