Had this tree 3 years, left it alone 1st year, chopped it down last year and let it grow back to this...
chopped it again yesterday to get this may pot it up 2moro...

Looks like an awesome little tree in the making, love that red bark and the fine branching is also going to look good in red.

It is a seed grown one not a graft right?

This last summer has been in full sun the whole time no prob !!! However in hot drought summer would be a different metter. yes its seed. Thanks Damo !!!

Are you potting it into another box or into a pot? Suppose it depends on your final height/ ideas for the tree, but those scars would heal twice as quick in a box.
I really like the colour of the young bark, will be stunning as a bonsai with all the fine twiggery that shade of red.

Hey mate thankyou, i think the large orchid pot this time. This will help growing on as well as better nebari. The other thing is you know when you want to bring a tree in at night and the box's get grubby and white powder everywhere. Im so over poly boxes

I know, those poly boxes are terrible when they get old. I try to renew them every year but they still deteriorate quickly eh.

Just because i dont want to start a brand new thread for this one. I thought i'd pop this little palmatumn here for fun. Grown from seed. Sorry no b4 shots or nebari shots too many trees to get through, how ever its all standard here the neb's all look good around here...

It's nice to see you pot intentions, I need to repot one of these coral bark maples myself and was leaning toward aqua, seeing this favours that bias (thanks)

Nice nebari already! Obviously you're growing on to increase girth in the trunk and branching structure, but do you plan on keeping at the same height (shohin?)?

I'll be interested to see how this one's wounds heal, I've noticed mine is less able to heal when compared to say a Trident, ... I've also noticed they tend to have longer internodes, straighter branches and often sprout more consecutive buds than just two opposing buds after a smaller branch is cut.

what are you're observations?

Try painting them with a water based paint and they wil not deteroirate as fast.
What do you do to them I have been using them for at least 4 years, and they have not started to break down yet.
I have 1 that has had 2 different plants in them now and still good as new
