Hi All,

I thought I'll post this forest for discussion, It is an ongoing piece of work and I did want to put it in a shallower pot, althought I think if I want to continue to develop the trees, this is a better pot... it just seems to be too heavy for the composition... Ideas and thoughts appreciatted, constructive criticism is always treasured

Keep the foliage sparse and in keeping with the harsh surrondings. Nice work.

I like it great work it should mature well. I feel the lean is a little too drastic though. Again I wonder about the concept that westerners see trees leaning to the left as un-progressive as we read left to right. It does upset me slightly in a way that I can't explain. This could be used to advantage with some thought.
I think you are saying it needs a shallower pot which is a given

Usually this group would be displayed in a shallow tray.
Mate the right hand side tree's foliage seems to head in a different direction totally to the main group that to my eye is a contradiction.

great setting el, i agree with dave on the right hand trees. definately keep developing in the deaper pot for now. when ya happy with where everything is then you might put it in a shallower tray, join one of the the clubs or more and come and exhibit it.

Nice trees and setting. Keep the foliage piched back well like it is.

I feel the tallest needs to have a slightly more upright apex. To me the eyes to end fall off the top to the left. With a slight upright top defined then it might look better.

What I see here is conflict some trees are leaning others are growing straight up ( with minimal lean). I do not think whether they go right or left is of concern.
I brought up this subject up on another site and got all sorts of theories.
I find that if you are right or left handed it is what direction it will flow. I have noticed it with club members and there trees.
All has been said about the pot, the branches need to be wired so the ones on the inside do not cross trunks. JMO Pup

Thank you very much for all your comments, I will definitely keep these in my mind when I style and re wire these trees, last time it took me close to 3 hours...
When my other computer is fixed I will post a pic of the forest in shallow oval pot that I originally had it in...

Here is the pic of the trees in the previous pot, sorry about the pic... I think I would like place it something similar after further development and refinement.
