Hi everyone,

took a drive further up the mountains today, and seems the never ending Great Western Highway upgrade towards Katoomba has claimed yet another nursery.

Seems like Dillingers have now been swallowed up, and either a sub division or site sheds are being placed where the nursery section once was.

The road works took out the local nursery at Lawson a few years ago, the Cranebrook native nursery further down the mountain a few years prior to that at Warrimoo.

McDonalds took out the old nursery at Blaxland many years ago, and of course, I have been to the old Riverview Nursery site at Ermington on Friday, where the new development is starting to get underway.

On a positve note seems there is a new lease of life going into a new nursery where the old Glenmore Nursery on Mulgoa Road resided, I hope they find prosperity.

Only time will tell.

Hey Paul,

Sad to see another one go ... they call this "progress" I believe tho for the life of me I don't see it. All great to have a new nursery starting up but its in those really old established ones that we bonsai folks found the best stuff to play with. I remember the last time I was at Riverview (about 4-5yrs ago) & if I had been able to I would have taken half the stock, was sad to see it close & even sadder I couldnt get there for the final hoorah.

Did someone here score the big old saw leaf banksia?? An "instant" 8man tree, the trunk and branches had that rugged gnarled form of a wild banksia that only age can produce, the large flowers in proportion to the whole, the hard part would be finding a bonsai pot big enough for the tree.

On the upside, After a great day talking trees with another nutter my enthusiasm is back stronger than ever. I have a heap of growing space, give me tube stock & a couple of years
