Hey there! I'm gonna take a stab at a virtual
Looks kinda messy but the circled part in blue is kinda where I would bend back over and perhaps form an apex with that.
Create some form of twisty complex looking apex even.
+ potential for deadwood, changing foliage pads (I think there are plenty of branches to work with) etc

The original is far too heavy on th top for the trunk size

ok heres another leigh asked me to virt up with an option or two, after finding out with was rather small i had to change my idea a little but it kept the same feel.

if would like to see the trunk more, (if you think its nice enough-hard to see from pic), and a couple of fancy jins. very stylised, powerful yet poetic. maybe a little robert stevens.
heaven is a free afternoon and a piece of material like this to play with!
sorry for the rough as virt, i am a computer newbie and bit of a technophobe. hope to improve.
