do not know any local suppliers there, but Enfield Produce in Sydney will ship to anywhere in OZ.
check the local Garden / horticultaural suppliers.
Another option is to send an email to Mt Sylvia and ask them if they have a local supplier near you. That was how I found about Enfield produce

Earlier this week I contacted Mt Sylvia Diatomite in regards to their distributers in Sydney.
customerservice@mtsylviadiatomite.com
Maybe you can request information from them for Tassie?
For Sydney they suggested Enfield Produce. Question: Is this 2-7mm type suitable?
AND.. would a 50% mix of this and regular potting mix (for training pots), be suitable for a starting bonsai noob?
Many thanks!

Greetings,
Just thinking out side the square. Why not organize a convention in Tas and then the mainlanders can all bring a bag or two over. Maybe give them cheap registration? Would save on the transport.
Happy bonsai,
see you in Bell City,
Bruce.

Yes Evening your 50% will be great.
I use the 2-7mm sized Diatomite myself.

I was going to buy some from Enfield Produce, but the freight came up as much as 140 for 5 bags to Melbourne
Any one looking for a few bags or more can PM me and we can perhaps go halves or as a group buy more than 10 bags and split the freight ??
I am happy to organise, but pick will be at a mutual point near the northern suburbs
Regards.

Thanks Ken!
Yes, freight is a killer! I'm only 15minutes from their store, and delivery is more than the cost of goods.
I've suggested to my wife a visit to IKEA on the weekend.. little does she know of our detour to Enfield.
