Had this one for about as long as i've been doing bonsai, 1 year-ish. Looking for some feedback on what i've done wrong and how i might improve it. Im thinking about taking the first branch off. Its about 22cm.
Thanks.

Nice to see you shortened the straight section of the top. I would be doing the same with the first branch too.
I woud cut that back to about 1/2 if you could and then regrowing the foliage.
Without the first branch, it will look a bit bare

Hey Izzy,
Missed this when you posted, great looking little tree

To me it looks like you havent done anything wrong, I would keep the first branch for a few years to help fatten the lower trunk then removing it or keep it as a short jin.
It has developed really nice pads in such a short time, was it nursery stock when you started? Have you repotted it & what mix did you use? I wouldnt mind trying a few for the great bark they develop after a couple of years.

Hi Matt, glad you like the tree. I don't like where it is now but do see some future for it. It was nursery stock and I have repotted but only in cheap potting mix. I think they are worth a go, very hardy and fairly quick growers, back bud well. I have very limited experience though.
