This post is for my cousin up north, :bump: sorry it took so long cus. :palm: After numerous attempts to sell this tree, i finally decided to keep it and improve it, so i decided to add another tree on the left side ( hence the sacrafices ) A wedge was taken out of the root ball and the new tree's roots were shaped into a wedge to fit in. :fc: Its not the best time of the year to do this now for its getting cooler so im hopin for some more warmer weather and meanwhile im bringing it in at night and nursing the dear... :fc: The styling is influenced by the natural growth of figs being informal brooms, how ever there is still a very stylistic approach for interests sake... Some history on this one can be found here ... viewtopic.php?f=79&t=243&hilit=benji+clumps

Hi anttal63 , don't see to many Ficus Benjamin as bonsai , but this one really does appeal to me . Was it originally one of those plaited trunks or have you purposefully braided them . Either way it look the goods .

Cheers Alpineart

Thanks mate !!! This was one of those $10 clumps you get at the local hardware. All plaiting and fusing was done by myself in my 1st year of bonsai. :tu:

Hi southern cousin, I was wondering when you were going to give us a peak at where this was up to.

It is looking really nice.

I like the balance the LHS trunk provides. By next year it will back bud nicely to allow you to trim it back and give an even silhouette.

I’ve now got an itch to get out and scratch my Benjamina. Thanks for posting the update mate.

Regards
Steve

The warmer weather never really came and so has been treated as an indoor bonsai since April. It has been residing in this modern bay window if you like, behind the kitchen sink. Where it is constantly sprayed evey few hours. It recieves direct sunlight between 11 am and 3 pm these days. At any sign of strong sunlight the tree is taken out into full sunlight and watered through thoroughly. Left there for the duration that the sun is out and brought in before the pot lose's its warmer temperture. It has recovered wonderfully and is now putting out new growth. I have osmacote fert in it and seasol it fortnightly if not weekly. :tu: :tu: :tu:
