I purchased this at the local nursery in their $3.00 section and thought hmm nice small leaves, beautiful flowers and its an Aussie hedge plant so why not...
I am also thinking of Eucalyptus Nicholii. Same nursery has 4"pots for $5.00 and nice looking little trees too, any thoughts on them both.
Would love to see some pics if anybody has them. Davo

Hi Booga, I know nothing of Correa Mannii, however E. nicholii are suitable. I've been growing one from tube stock for the last 4 years and so far it's been well behaved. I haven't any photos and it's currently not worth showing anyway, but here and here are two E.nicholii entered by PeterH into the Australian Native bonsai awards '11 as an example. I'm sure I've seen another fantastic E. nicholii somewhere but can't remember where.

Thanks Wal. them links show 2 very nice examples hay. I love the detail in #2s trunk man has that got me drooling..
I hid one in the nursery so no one else would see it because I had no cash with me that day.
It had/has nice trunk movement with sacrifice branches down low too I just hope no one has found it.

Correas seem to respond well to pot culture. They shoot off old wood, at least in the garden where they get regular heavy pruning.

From a bonsai perspective, you are not likely to get much in the way of thick trunk development. If that worries your concepts of bonsai, you might want to look elsewhere. But if not, then go for it and enjoy the long flowering period - they are spectacular flowers, so if a well structured trunk and branches can display the flowers, you're onto a winner. All the best and let us know the outcome.

Roger that Roger Trunk size, around an inch would be nice, but they would get thicker than that wouldn't they?
The tag says that they respond well to pruning so that has to be a good thing.
I think I will aim for a Broom style with this one. Dave

I actually bought a few the other day im gonna try them out even if they just look good and arnt true bonsai I will be happy for 3 buks you can complain haha

Thats exactly right Red. It looks like a nice plant mate and ifn it dose not work as a bonsai just plant it out and enjoy

Im not gonna even plant it in the ground it will make a nice little pot specimen for a table pr aumthing, loving the flowers hey, I have faith in them if they get to a mtr high the trunk will get thick enough.for the size im thinkin

What's with all this discussion of 'not a bonsai'?

If your bonsai is an artistically styled plant in a pot, then you are 95% of the way there. It mightn't look like a JBP, but fortunately 'bonsai' is much wider than that.

Just keep up the high quality work on styling it in an artistic manner; let you and it tell a interesting, and in this case also, a beautiful story and presto you have a bonsai! May not be the one that everyone else thinks of as 'bonsai', but art first and bonsai definitions last.

Roger that roger, thanks for the input, I was directing that statement amd the more fanatical bonsai artist , ive got a few specimen im using bonsai techniques on but wouldnt be classes as true bonsai but they are there for my viewing pleasure, but I agree with you 100% and im glad I found this site it opened my eyes to a wide range ofbpossibilities
