This is one of two mannifera I have. The other one is sulking due to a repot. I bought them from the council nursury about 10 years ago.

I have never been happy with the shape of this one but is the only one of the two that has kicked on this year. Sill love the bark. Leaf size has come down.

Another one from the 'gumtree master'.

Even though you are not happy with the shape, Peter, there would be many who would give it pride of place in another collection!
To put this tree in perspecive can you give us an idea of the dimensions please Peter? height, width, pot diam, etc.

Pete, I love that tree. To me that tree is exactly what you find in the bush. It has the dead braches, little stubs, color in the bark, flare at the base. It is a "gum tree". Personally I love it

I havnt air layered any Eucs but Flybri from this site has. He produced an infomative thread on air layering a River red gum.
Leaf reduction has come about by pinching out the new growth. On the few varieties I have tried this seem to give me the best results.

Me too- I just LOVE this tree! I think it looks really natural and you could just imagine walking past something identical to this- but much bigger.

The bark is fantastic too- love the colour!

I spend alot of time in the bush and too me this is so typical of what you see, I love the shape and it sure would take pride and pace in my collection. To me this is Aussie Bonsai to a "T". Keep up the great work.
