This was another junpier I picked up a couple of weeks ago and had a go at over the easter break. It still has some work to go. I would like to jin the cascaded end of the plant after I have shaped some of the brancheds and let them thicken a little more.

I think some it still needs some definition of pads as well...

again I appreciate any feedback

G/Day! Woz,
I think you have the right idea with this tree.
Before you strip the heavy branch back see if you can get some movement (curve down) in the thick branch, right where you have drawn a dotted line.
This will then give you a pattern to wire your cascade/semi cascade to emulate.
it is all about grace and movement eh?
You should join a club, woz. you show promising skills.
Regards

Woz the signs of a good cascade in this tree. You are going the right way, and with tmasters comment and guide will get there.
However, there is always one, it needs a cascade pot so the tail, is not touching the bench, or #od forbid the ground.

Thanks for the support and advise guys. I must say I was a little unsure as to the rules of Pot to Plant ratios for semi cascades, I was however careful to shape the branches so they finished between the lip and base of the pot.
I wanted to keep the pot small so that I didn't end up with a pot-plant if you get my drift, Also just a thought, is it acceptable to put the pot on a raised stand to allow for a casacde to contine below the pot?
John could you post another picture displaying the full cascade btw, I love the root knot at the base

Bonsai south has posted a recent tutorial video on a Juniper. Certainly proves the 'less is more' philosophy!
