Stately old pine

I was lucky enough to sit in on a discussion about the past and future of this old radiata.
It is a likely display tree for the AABC convention in May and the owner is keen for it to be looking at its finest.
After a few slight tweaks I expect it will come up an absolute treat for those lucky enough to attend.

Not that i am a expert on pots etc but since it has been mentioned you can see what pup is talking about. A tree that good does deserve it. Also in the love it category :hooray:

The pot was discussed at length,
A Japanese pot as good as or better than this one would be a huge challenge.
I like it very much (perhaps the photo does not do it justice)

It does not have to be Japanese! there are some very good Chinese and Korean pots on the market. It does to need to be bigger on length, as it appears too short for the two
primary branches.

Cheers Pup

Thanks for posting these pics Gerard, it is great to see some of the trees that are hiding in people's yards.

I'll definitely be having a close look at this one in May.

Yes i have to agree with whats been said .It could grace my meager few Bonsai for sure .This country has some spectacular large Bonsai however rarely do we get to see them . Thanks for posting this Ripper Radiata .

Cheers Alpineart

Great tree :tu:

I agree with Pup. The pot needs to be at least 20% longer but with same depth IMO.

Thank you for sharing Gerard :tu2:
