Late last year the Melbourne bonsai community lost a brilliant Bonsai and Penjing artist in Mr Lin Hong. Grant mention in a previous thread about this "little Marvel" viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9376

At Bonsai Northwest's February 6th meeting night, Judy, Mr Hong's daughter, will be bringing along a substantial number of her late father's trees for sale. This is truly a wonderful opportunity to pick up one or more of this wonderful artists trees. His trees always amaze every visitor and this will be one of the last opportunities to purchase one of his trees. Bring along your cash (cash only sale) and you won't be disappointed.

Location: The Clifton Park Bowling Club, Batman Street, Essendon Melbourne, Melways Map 28-B4
Time: meeting starts at 8pm but be early not to miss out.
Cash only please.

Hopefully his memory can be kept alive through the nurturing of his trees by others. Does all the money raised go back to his family?

Are any of Hong Lin's collection destined for display at the NBPCA?

Hi Ryan,
The family intend to keep some of his display trees in the hope of continuing to display these trees at exhibitions or even in the National Collection. His daughter and widow will be on hand at the club meeting night and will be selling the trees.

Having had the pleasure of owning and working on a few of Hong's creations, it was clear that he was a very talented man who will be sadly missed. Our sincere sympathies to his family for their loss.

Is there a way that the collection can be photographed as a whole, before it is dispersed?

It concerns me that we do not honour our best growers by recording their work.

The trees that made it to the NBPCA, and the few I've seen in photographs were exceptional.

is there a list of trees that we can view? maybe some pics too
would be great to have a heads up for whats on offer. cant buy any myself as im saving for one now but for the people who are thinking of going...
