Syd's rhaphiophylla

:lost: Another rhaphiophylla.

As some of you may be aware Syd Reeves, one of Pup's good friends and bonsai buddies passed away recently - viewtopic.php?f=3&t=953&p=98989&hilit=s ... es#p98989- -, This was one of his trees and will remain so as long as i own it.

i do not wish to alter away from the direction Syd was heading, even tho i'm not even sure of that myself. The tree is like a stump that was split in half and then carved out at the front, the carving is good  , health and vigour ,not so good. When i received this tree it was in a styrene box and rather root bound with about the same amount of foliage as you see now, I promptly gave it a full on repot and moved into this 300x230x80mm unglazed pot. It was left alone to get recovering.

The tree grows very well now and has since been wired, i have been pinching and trimming the foliage where/when needed and it has been receiving fertiliser regularly. I now think i can see where Syd may of been heading with this tree and will endevour to continue improving it with him in mind :) .

Thanks for reading,

Thank you for that sentiment Craig I will pass that on to Ruth next time I see her. I am sure there was more foliage than that last time I saw it!

As you and I have said, of a few of his we were not sure where they were headed until we got them back to health. Well I only have two left for sale.

So we must have done a good job.

Thanks for this post mate. Cheers from Pup and Ruth :)

That is sure one nice looking rhaphiophylla mate. I am sure Syd would be very pleased to see the way it is heading.
