Just thought id post one of my favorite little port jacksons. This one aint coming off this rock anytime soon.It was originally collected south of Nowra in NSW.The little guy is 20cm tall. Hope you like

That's some great potential you have with your Fig! As you say, it's grasp on the rock looks pretty tight.

The one thing I'd look at addressing ASAP would be the root that curls around the base of the trunk/rock. It's horizontal movement detracts from the strong verticals of the trunk and other roots.

Great presentation in your photography too mate! To improve it, if you increase the distance between your bonsai and backdrop, the backdrop will be out of focus. This will remove the distracting shadow and decrease the definition of the background letting us focus on your bonsai! Check out PeterH's guide to photographing bonsai for more great tips.

sorry mate i didnt take any earier pictures but this tree was about 1metre tall growing between two large rocks. (the root system was basically in a crevice) by breaking part of the rock off it was recovered and this fig begin its new life, i will try what you suggested about the backdrop and repost tomorrow. Ill take pics of various angles too for a better look. It really has forged on that rock. I have no indication on its age. i have another that was collected in a simular spot i will post too.

Here are some more pics of this tree, i have removed the backdrop further back and moved acouple of branches. Hope this gives a better view. I have resized (reduced) some pics for faster viewing so hopefully thet are still clear.

That I do, still going well. Gave it a repot as the pot was alittle small for my climate.It got thinnned out a few weeks ago and to my surprise i found a paper wasps nest hiding in the apex little guys didnt move the whole time as i continued to thin out the tree. I kept them as they are good pest eaters. Glad they didnt bite me as i swell up alittle Got anymore, always on the lookout for good shimps

Both lovely little trees with enormous potential.
I think all agree to try and lose that curved root on the first tree.
Wouldn't hurt to shorten the left hand side primary branch for balance.
The second tree looks like it needs strength at the top of the tree, again shortening those bottom branches will get some vigor and development happening at the top.
Advice is great isn't it, you can listen and then ignore !!!!

You are right. It is one of Pats pot and a pretty early one i think. If Pat can be dragged away from his fishing he can quote me on that........

I agree that the top appears weak, it hadnt been repotted in a long time so i thought it would bunce back real stong which there are new buds beginning to open on the lower branches all along. I may shorten these branches back to the desired buds. Thanks for the input and judgeing by your posted works im more than happy to take your advice
