well i know i said i would wait but with the weather we have been having i cant see it hurting the tree, what it will do is give me more branching and more canopy which will help increase humidty for airial roots to develop later on :D

i am quite happy with how this one has come along especially in the branching :D its getting quite dense and secondaries are getting hard to wire. the wire i did use for the small branches is actually out of copper wiring used in house hold electrical and i pulled it down to one or two threads which came to .25 of a mm or .5 of a mm so quite small but strong enough to hold nicely :D

as you can see in the top shot, which the front of the tree is to the bottom of the pic, that the branching is slightly shorter, this still needs to be extended some, to mimc the back more giving it a more rounded appearance :D

I would rethink the arial roots... The tree is more upright and not spreading, it may look a tiny bit out of place. You could think about getting them on the trunk to help give it character?

interesting asus, what you are saying is its more of a broom form than banyan? i do intend on it going into a shallow oval pot, and have it spread more so but i see what you mean with the airials. airial roots coming of the trunk will help with taper and flare, it would give the trunk more interest with fluting and the likes too :D

Keen to see this in a couple of seasons, Banyan style figs are my favourites and I see this with excellent future.

Always enjoy seeing your trees, Jamie.

ok a couple of months has passed since the tree got defoliated, it has come back nicely, tight internodes, and some good leaf reduction, there are a few larger leaves on the tree but i have gotten some down to around 5mm long. it is coming along nicely and i am looking forward to things warming up more and more :D

this is my favourite fig in my collection :D

Looking really good, Jamie. I used yours as a model for a Moreton Bay fig of my own. Will post a picture one day.

hi mate,

i dont htink bunnings would have figs like this one, this is an old collected tree, i havent got a clue of how old it is either but know it is old. you can develop some good branching and ramification with QLD small leaves and it wont take to long.

i tell ya what i have a few more QLD small leaf and will be happy to sell ya a couple, i will pm the pics of them to you :D

Here it is, Jamie. Yours was the inspiration for mine, even though they are different figs and different shapes.

By the way, it was defoliated about a month ago. Has budded well and leaves are quite reduced.

very nice glenda :D

that is actually very similar in structure to mine, if you go back to the very start of the thread and look at the main trunk/branch frame it is very similar, a lot smaller than mine though, i had to have a double look when i realised it was a bic lighter next to it!
