Root work stage 1... culled everything no good and unwanted. Now i can see where i need to graft. Hopefully will get that done in the next few days. I will also take a photo of the underneath when i do the grafting, so as to show you just how much was taken off and corrected. The first pic is of most of the thick stuff that came off as well as a large hand full of just fibre. Till thn...

Somehow, this one has slipped under my radar...

This has the makings of a really excellent Trident! Like you, I really appreciate Walter's take on the "broom" style, as well as his views on deadwood with deciduous species.

I look forward to seeing it once you start getting the roots sorted out - and it looks like you're already halfway there. Looking at the pic of you tree all wired up, the main thing that stick out to me is that lowest right hand branch: to me it acts as a "bar branch", making it difficult to find the flow of the tree. I would consider losing that branch, then cutting back the top of the right hand branch to encourage lower branching there.

I have to say that that branch dosnt really bother me even if it is a bar branch, it seems to work and I don't thInk it really messes up the flow. But anyway that's just what I think anyway

Thanks Fly, this tree is destined for great things no doubt about it. I look forward to grafting in some roots roots now. The right branch in question... My take on this is that when creating a broom form bar branches dont need to be an issue as long as there is method in the madness so to speak. The thing i find annoying in this branch is its lack of girth. My idea is for it to possibly become another sub trunk but shorter than the other two. Then i think it will come into its own and not disrupt the flow.

Oh yeah baby here it comes!!! 2 yrs on for this one too and all is fantastic. Lost a main back branch in the Hail storm but we will work something else out
The Nebaris is on the improve looking alot more stable and hopefully will pull those flat sides out more. Change of pot this year to enhance the spring and autumn reds and add an air of class to which this tree deserves. hope ya all enjoy

Thats an impressive looking tree. It has the old tree haunted spooky look to it. Question- why did you pot it smack bang in the middle of the pot ? If I may politely suggest slightly to one side and a bit to the back would be perfect.

Brian, Thanks mate as always. Before potting it my partner and i tried in a few different pots and positions also. This is what we thought looked best at the time. I also have the image of the finished tree in my mind with the right side filled out a little more. Had it not been for the right side then i would slide the tree a little to the right. As far as moving it back i dont think there is any more room under the soil. front to back the tree is awsomely wide/deep. I do appreciate your opinion Brian. I have been so busy repotting that there hasnt been time for a virt however i must do that at some stage and we have a play with the positioning. Thanks again mate !

Thats some inspiring work there. The tree has a natural and imposing look. I like the new pot, very nice, should look awesome with those Autumn hues. Great progression too, keep us posted,
