Thanks for the feedback Shibui. I remember back to a post of yours showing your root work and considered going real hard on them... do you think it would be too stressful on the tree to cut them back further now?

Now that it has leaves growing I think I'd leave it this year. Getting it out again and cutting the roots will not change very much at this stage. You can repot again next winter and cut those new roots shorter then.
