It's lookin' good R3. I think I prefer the proposed 'new' front as well - don't let that moss have too much fun on the trunks.

dansai wrote: March 20th, 2021, 6:33 am I like the 'new' front. It gives an uninterrupted line to the main trunk as the secondary trunk comes from behind and then moves forward beautifully. The regular front in comes of the front then moves away and then hides behind a branch. At least that is the impression from the photo. Lovely tree though Ryan. Well done
Thanks man! Hope you’re well.
Yeah, the description of the secondary trunk is pretty much as you say. Honestly though it is way more obvious in photos than real life... I still can’t decide but I guess in the end it’s a moot point, I’ll just keep spinning the pot!

Thanks to all for your feedback/opinions... much appreciated!

Always hard from the pics but everything seems to come forward (main players) in the orignal for me... :)

The development of this tree has been quite rapid, congrats.
I prefer the first (original) front but the other one looks OK as well. To me it looks not as "organised" and a more natural feel. I also see more trees that move left to right and this create some differences.

Spent a couple of hours in the sun this morning giving this mel a trim back. There's a LOT of branching in there now so it takes a while, particularly when I'm being mindful of maintaining a decent view from both 'fronts'. Probably could sit up there for a few hours more and still keep refining, but there is a thing called work, so I'll have to call it a day at this ...

Looking the goods R3, you must be thrilled with your little Lazarus!! You can't lose either way, I'd vote the new front if I had to choose. Cheers

Repotted this Melaleuca about a week ago and it has taken it very well. It now sits a lot lower in the pot which I like much better. Gave it a conservative trim back today to maintain the silhouette to some extent. I've taken most of the wire off as it was starting to bite and rather than re-wire I'll give it a rest and have a look at that scope of work in a couple of months.

Update on this tree. You can see how much it has pushed up since it was repotted in February!
I gave it a pretty conservative trim today as it is about to flower, so I‘ll wait for that to finish before doing a proper prune and wire most likely. Never had it flower before (I don't think so anyway) so that is nice.

Still one of my favourite trees On AB and now with flowers! Doesn’t get any better than that for me. Please post more pics once it’s in full flower. After that you can take this tree and stick it….. on my bench! :fc:
Cheers

Repot for this tree this morning, it really pushed root growth at a decent rate. A few shots of the process below.

PS: Sorry Kirky, never actually saw it in full bloom, I went on holidays for a few weeks after that last post and by the time I came back it was over. Maybe this year!??! :fc:

Gave this tree another trim after a winter hiatus.
It threw a few blooms this spring, but not enough to get the camera out ...
Once again it has lifted itself out of the pot, and it was only repotted in February. It's a prolific grower! I'll most likely look at repotting before things heat up too much in the next couple of months and so with that in mind I was pretty gentle with the clipping back.
