Have adjusted those trees at the back slightly. Dressed it a little. That might do for now what do you think?

That is looking very cool indeed! Love it and 'hat off to you, Sir' for your patience in reworking this! I recon I would have thrown the towel in by now...

One thing I'd love to se, and I don't know if this is convention or even desirable, but ... the path, I'd like to see it like and indentation - like its bee travelled by many a foot for many a year and, sorry, be of finer material.
So to describe it better (hopefully), the trees are a little high than the path, with a slight rise on the edges of the path (next to the trees) ... Purely for visual effect - it may not even be a good design for a group planting ... but that is what your group evokes in me!

hadn't noticed that before and I'm not sure I totally agree ... perhaps its to do with the fact that they are "in-line' with each other?!

Don't know much about groups... but if that is how it makes you feel, pull one forward and the other back a little????

Have a look at this thread by treeman. You'll see he has trees in front of the line of the main trees. It looks more natural and will take away the goal post look. Also maybe a wider shallower pot to allow some space on one side.

I think forests are hard things to pull off well but when they are they can be breathtaking.

Looks better for now. Have a look at some other groups on the site or in books - the larger trees are usually more embedded in their surrounding smaller trees. You have all the material, it'll just take a couple of years to get them where you want.

The space right down the middle may be contributing to the 'goal post' look. You could try cutting along the line of the path then moving the right hand group back and around to the left so that the rear tree is just slightly behind the left group. That will make the path wind through the forest and you cannot see all the way through.
The first group I put together many years ago looked a bit like yours. Moving the sub groups to close the gap made a big difference

Hi Squizzy, its coming along great mate.

I think the medium used for the path may be a little large for the scale of the forest. Can you possibly switch it out with something to the likes of sand or a much smaller stone? Would look much more natural and realistic IMO.

Squiz, we're it mine, I'd try get that second biggest tree into the sae clump as the main tree, and replace it with the one on the extreme right of the current left hand grouping. I also find the path edge on the left a bit straight, so I'd try to run the path more front righ to back left, disappearing behind the left hand main grouping. I'd start the righ grouping a smidge further back to accommodate this. A path running behind trees creates interest absent when you can see the back of the pot on the path.

Finally, I find that main tree too straight in comparison to the others. I'd look for a slightly better main tree with a less parallel trunk line.
