Hi Matt , as with all tree's I create they can have several fronts or be it they look good from several angles , not a stickler fr rules so I dont need a certain front as it can change with each progression and in most case Junipers dont have a good narebri .
The deadwood can be trimmed back as can the live material depending on my outlook or be it some perspective purchaser who is bound to see the tree differently ,
Nothings is set in concrete when creating Phoenix grafts or anything that grows and changes .

I have a n old Yamaha xt500 thumper ,my new no maintenance hobby , 1 minute it's a cafe racer , in 2 hours time its a motard and in 3 hours its a trail bike , same basic bike but 3 completely different looking machines .

Unfortunately Bonsai once you cut something off you just cant bolt another piece on but with a Phoenix graft its all about adding "green to grey" , "live to dead" so to speak . even the deadwood needs refining or reducing as time goes by .

Cheers . Alpine

Hi Ryceman3 , have to agree on the different angles .This is definately the best Phoenix graft I have produced ,

I think even if the Shimp was to die I would just retain the trunk as a trophy . No maintenance required just paint the shimp

Great progression shots of a good looking graft.
Can’t wait to see after the trim.

This is 1 of the 200 plus trunks sold over the last 2 months . Its gone to a good home and sticking around the area hopefully to continue the challenge with Shibui for best trunk in the Albury Wodonga Bonsai Club Shows .
Its sad to see it go but thats life , I'm sure the new owner will take very good care of it .

Cheers . Ian

End of an era Alpine, but hopefully the beginning of a new one... at least it’s local so you can keep an eye on it if you choose to do so! :shifty:
Did you keep any bonsai??

Hi Ryceman3 , mate at 240 trunks gone it barely put a dent in the stock here .

I don't plan on keeping any , but while I'm here I'll move into caretaker mode and simply water them . All the grow beds are empty and if it's not potted , it's bagged so they live or die .

Final pics of this as it was picked up by the purchaser for a Fathers day gift , definately be a happy chappy in N.E Victoria today . I cleaned it up removed the wires and added some moss , I'm sure the new owner will appreciate the little extra effort .

Cheers . Ian
