Re: The New NBPCA site under construction
Lots more has been completed in the last week.
I went up this morning to have a look and the Project Manager and another were inspecting the recently attached first layer of roofing. There are multiple layers of material and mebrane to go over the top of the Araucari board. Must be a good view from up there! The scaffolding supporting the roof has been detached and the scaffolding will be removed starting tomorrow. The roof is now supported by the cement post and wooden bracing etc. The building of the stone walls are almost complete along the one side. The roof beams are supported on the wooden beams which sit on the cement pillars and are bolted and welded into position There are only two more roof beams to go now and then the fit out will really get going.

There will be two main dates in 2013 that you may wish to visit Canberra .harry wrote:That is looking wonderful Grant. Is the any chance of a date yet? so we can start planning a trip.
Regards Harry.
One will be the opening of of the National Arboretum Canberra and the new NBPCA. This will be very early in 2013 but I still cannot release the proposed date until it is all signed off on.
The other date will be the AABC Convention in 18th to 20th May 2013.

Re: The New NBPCA site under construction
Thanks for the updates
I am now curious if it will cost anything to enter the visitors area the arboretum and the NBPCA in the new facility. Being Canberra I would not be surprised if most was able to be assessed for free like most attractions there but I am curious. If it does cost I wonder if there will be a yearly membership or friends program?

It's too bad your in such a hurry cause the stories I could tell you, Bushels and baskets of stories, hole crates full of stories. But if you can spare a moment I will tell you one story.

Re: The New NBPCA site under construction
Hi Brett,
As far as I know there will be no charge. I believe the facility is being provided for the community to enjoy without an entry fee.

Hi all,
The final two roof trusses have gone into place and are being secured. Soon work will gain momentum in the NBPCA part of the Arboretum.

Re: The New NBPCA site under construction
Hi all,
Construction has started on the inside of the new collection. The ground has been filled and compacted inpreparation for paving; and the benches and pillars for the futrue display are rising like mushrooms from the ground. This was last Tuesday but the weather was too bad to go on site today.
