excellent tree mate

i like your V cut to it looks like it is rolling over nicely, did you seal that wound or did you just let it be?
gives me some good ideas too, i actually need to chop mine back its starting to get to long but i want it to thicken up aswell as they will be the starting of the branching.
im going to be trying to get a really low broom, it will be quite low, the first branches will be about 3, maybe 4 inches from the ground

the trees overall visualised height is going to be around 9-10 inches with a foliage spread of about 18-20 inches i think

I sealed the V cut straight away with cut paste and about 2 weeks later shoots appear all around the cut area. Selected the ones i wanted removed all others and just let them grow freely in the first year to gain strength. I had no roots on them when lifted. I cut the bases flat. They root very easily.

can you spot the grafted branch on the main upright? I have two others in progress now to fill a few gaps.

thats a nice one too mate

its got a heavy trunk up the middle but i still like it
they have rather thin trunks for the heights of the trees when collected hey
this one has a nice sized trunk for what i want to do, but when i collected it the tree would of been well over 4 metres i reckon
they do power on really well once chopped back but, i reckon they are great trees to collect, to be able to collect on 31st of january and be at where i am now with it only 3 or so months later is excellent, no 1-2 years recovery, i had this bare rooted too

its grow box is packed with new roots

its the one in the middle near the top facing towards the veiwer mate

i can still see where the shoot thickened around the hole when it was fusing

yeh, that branch on the right is a strong one. It grew like that over a season before i realised, bugger. Still one of my favourite trees in my colletion.

yea ya gotta watch them for sure

i check mine every couple of days and go over it to make sure there arent wires digging in and the likes.
i am thinking bout letting it scar up some as a test to see if it helps thicken the branching and trunks up a little quicker as they are fast growers i was thinking it might help ?
do yours go into a dormancy or do they stay green all the time?

well heres another update, its coming along quite nicely, very happy with it actually

i did a trim up a while ago and this is where it has grown back to, it will be left for a fair while again. then cut back hard, even though i am wiring it still needs to have clip and grow method used
