Small typo, of course should be 65 mm. Gee doing an airlayer of 65cm you would have to use a chainsaw!!! Now that's food for thought.

I know that some people remove fruit or flowers to re-direct energy elsewhere but this is normal behaviour for a plant or tree. The only effect I can think of would be slower growth of the twigs and leaves. Shorter internodes can't be bad for the bonsai grower.
