Re: NBPCA and Floriade 2009
Sunday was predicted to get to 10 or 11 degrees.
It only got to 7.5 degrees for most of the day with a brief spike to a tropical 8.1 degrees.
Brrrrrrrrr. But we still had around 1,600 visitors brave the cold. Coldest September day for 40 years apparently.

7.5 max in the middle of the day is still pretty cold; especially as our blood was starting to thin with the spring.Jordy wrote:Ha ha! 7.5 degrees is the coldest you've had in 40 years!?

When it freezes as you pee. Then it is cold
So you move to warmer climes

Re: NBPCA and Floriade 2009
In my new theme of song writing I have a title for a song of Country and Western pedigree.
"It's like Deja Vu all over again".
Its cold and raining, Its Canberra, its a weekend. Must be Floriade 2009.
However they still come in great numbers.
The number of visitors to the collection over the last three weeks has been great. About 30,000 so far and this could be the biggest weekend for the Floriade if the weather isn't too cantankerous.

Re: NBPCA and Floriade 2009
Another cool to cold spring day in Canberra at Floriade.
The numbers of visitors has been good despite the weather.
For all you who have been following the gradual leafing out of the shadow I have to disappoint you as I haven't seen the sun for a while; hence no shadow. Sorry about that.
The cool weather has also slowed down the flowering of the Hawthorn this year but it has finally started and should be a picture in a few days.

Re: NBPCA and Floriade 2009
And finally the sun came out. Lots of people here for the long weekend Monday.
Just 6 days of Floriade to go.
Because of the rain and cool weather the flower display of Floriade looks FABULOUS!
Just 6 days to go. Come and visit Floriade(and the NBPCA of course)

Re: NBPCA and Floriade 2009
Lots of people here at Floriade today. This will probably be our busiest weekend of the year.
The flowers of Floriade are spectacular and the weather is cool but sunny.

Re: NBPCA and Floriade 2009
It is the last day of Floriade for 2009 and we have had around 44,000 visitors so far.
It has been a teensy bit busy for the last month. I am looking forward to getting back to work on the trees with the help of our intrepid volunteers.
Closed for two weeks as of Monday 12th October until we reopen on Monday 26th October.
