Thanks for the video and the update. Love your tree! Made me remember mine, so I went out and did some directional pruning.

I do remember Kevin, all your trees are doing well. May I ask, do you find wiring difficult due being brittle. Also how often do you trim the growth and at what time to keep the internodes short?

Yes Susan. They are quite bristle but we can work around that. What I do is stop watering them for about 3 - 4 days and gave the specimen a sun bath before starting the wiring process. This can make them very workable. At least this never failed me.
I only prune my wr twice a year - after flowering and when wiring them when they come into "dormant" and drop most of their leaves.

Thanks Kevin, will make sure to stop watering before I wire. Also I have read that you can make them flower again by removing the leaves later in the season giving them a second flush of flowers have you tried that? If so does it stress the plant by forcing a second flush?

Hi Susan. Where I came from, people grow them on the side of lakes and ponds and they have access to abundant water and nutrients. They flower more than twice a year. However, the first time after shedding all leaves is always more profuse. If they are bonsai in pots, this can be achieved with frequent yearly repotting. I have tried to induce profuse flowering with defoliating and high P + K feeding. The good thing is it's very hard to kill a WR tree unless you starve it from water for a prolonged period.
