Hello Bodhidharma,

I like this setting / composition and negative space.
My favourite image was the last one with the highlight across the canopies lower branches, but still keeping the 'woods' dark.

Daylesford would be a great place for growing japanese maples. 600m elevation, far enough south away from the equator so not too much burning sun.

And that autumn colour is excellent!

Another year come and gone and the back trees have now grown enough to make the forest convincing. About to go into Autumn colour so i will do an update later. I like how far this setting has come in a short five or so years. It pays to have good stock up your sleeve. i changed a lot of Angles when repotting last year and pulled the front larger trees forward and mounded the centre a bit. It made a huge difference.

It has been a terrible Autumn here at the Central highlands with very warm weather and bushfire right up until a few weeks ago. Most of the trees here had scorched leaves and foliage just fell off with the first rain. This group was better protected along with a couple of E. Elms which i will post later. This group will be repotted shortly and changed a little, here is some colour finally.

I agree with this autumn it was HOT, DRY and will also had a few large fires not too far from us . A sudden change early May with 70mm + and cool nights transformed everything in a matter of days . My place is looking much better and the autumn colour far better then was I thought I would get .
