Ok , so i found some of that spare time to throw some wire on the 2 main trunks ,

Its as rough as guts but this is their first styling just to bring the branches down to the desired placement .

The new leader on the smaller trunk has set well , the stub will remain until i'm happy it has fused together then a little surgery will take place to remove it

. I haven't removed very much foliage as things like thread grafts may be required in places void of foliage on the smaller trunk . I will if necessary place them together and graft from one to the other as the bigger trunk has some spare long thin growth required for thread grafting .

Both these were cut from the top , NOT under cut to aid the downward movement of the branches .

The bad news is the extreme heat has burnt not only the foliage but a lot of the new shoots so it has set them back a tad bit .I will continue to bend the branches down and if necessary add some hook and hold wires to ensure they stay put .

Movement will be added gradually depending on the back budding on the branches . I did have a play with the jin and shari at the apex but it was only a play as i would like to see a few buds form under the whorl that will become fully jinned .

Keeping the couple of shoot there will keep the sap flowing and hopefully produce the goods required .

Cheers Alpineart .

Hi Guy , there most certainly is an issue with bar branches swelling as most plants do . There is 1 branch at the first and second whorl that will be jinned but they will remain for now to keep the juices flowing . With a 50mm trunk it wont swell much as a bonsai with the branches reduced in length to the degree they are .
