Hi Pat
I reckon someone has got a little "cascading Juniper" that just needs a pot with a cutout.
You may have unwittingly started a new trend in cascade pots.
cheers
Dave

Crikey Pat !!!!!
I thought you were joking about that pot being in the mail.
I know all you pots are one offs, however, this beauty is certainly unique.
Not sure whether to put a tree in it, maybe it will sit on a shelf next to a Japanese antique !
thanks mate( I think)
cheers
Dave

Dave, you were giving me so much grief....I needed to gain a little kudos!
Now I can sit back and shrug... as I did anyway!!!!
Ben, I don't make anything that's too difficult...and suibans are difficult.
Maybe this is the opening for you!!!!

Crikey Pat,
that wasn't "grief" mate.
Grief is when they rip hell out of your trees, pot choice, carving and pruning techniques and call your bloody trees "Topiary".
NOW THAT'S GRIEF!!!!!!!
cheers
Dave

Yes, but they also don't have reasonable walls which give the pot rigidity in the kiln. The chances of the suiban coming out of the kiln warped is very high... you could possibly get away with it by firing to a lower temperature but then the clay would be porous, and then when you display your treasured 'stone'

on the Baby-Grand, you'd be left with a water mark in the french polish.....and then I'd be in trouble!!!!
