Thanks for the pictures Watto. I like your tree. It will come along nicely. It is great to have some examples to consider.

Hi TC I have started to consider traipsing through the bush again this year to find a few smaller trees to collect. But if you want a big one I will keep that in mind.

First bonsai pot today and a trim/wire, also got it's carving done.
I had only repotted this last year so I was a little hesitant to go again this year but it seemed as though it had lots of energy stored. The trunk will look better as it is turned a little more anti clockwise but that will need more wood removed and will have to wait for now. I made one mistake

, I wonder if anyone can pick me up on it?

Very fine result after such a short time. Although you may not have to choose, the third photo shows a good "front" for me - the carving all sits together and balances, and it sits in the mix more comfortably. Just my 2c.

Thanks Gavin Edward, Yes 3 looks great in 2d but most of the tree is leaning away

Maybe there is a solution for this with a longer leader coming back in time

The mistake I made is a let down for the current front.

Two mistakes one the thin root at the front spoils it two you have not offered it for transport interstate

I too like the 3rd pic as the front. Maybe next repot you can lean tilt it if needed?

Hey Harry, Nice pickup about the small root. Most inexperience Bonsaiiers will not pick up upon that, but you did. Well Done

Thanks Guy's, now that it will be trimmed more often maybe I will see the solution.
Can't anyone pick my mistake. Hint is that it spoils the current front, Marc brought this up at the tops and I am glad he did as it is something I need to overcome in some of my designs.
Oh and another mistake could be that planting Lower would have improved the base but that is not what I was thinking.

Spoiled the front hey???? Hmmm....

Is it that all of the movement that is visible in the front view is on one (RH) side of the trunk, while one side appears to be straight from soil level to apex ? Or that the new leaders that you have grown haven't had enough time to thicken and blend into the trunk line and enable a smooth transition as the trunk tapers? Is it that the final trunk cut at the top of the tree sets up the leader to grow towards the rear of the tree? Nebari not very well balanced? Planted too far forward in the pot?

Pretty common errors really, all of which can be easily overcome in previous trees, this tree, the next and 100 trees from now.
