Hey Bodhi,
I somehow missed this tree till today, I smell a dodge... How big is the pot?
Nice stump to play with & I am liking what you have done so far. I have no objection to the pot as far as horticultural requirements, keeping it wet is your headache. Visually I think its going to sit very heavily unless you were going to hollow it out alot more.
Definitely one I look forward to seeing progress.
Matt

Not big enough Matt

I think i got my ambitions mixed up with my capabilities

I will renegotiate with myself about pot choice. This one is its training pot.

Hi Bodhi , mate it looks like its been hit by a D9 Cat'

. I most certainly like where its heading

, and that pot would look better with my Monty sitting in it at my place , well depending on how big it is . That's the type /style of pot i.m looking for .Cant wait to see this in another season . What is your plan for the finished height
Cheers Alpine

Hi ya Alpine, the tree is 520mm and the trunk is just over 300mm (i was surprised it has put on 20mm) and i plan to keep it under 600mm. A ratio of 2.1

a fat tree.

The pot is 600mm x 400mm. Its beauty and its downfall is its depth at only 40mm or so. It is one of the most stunning pots i have seen. I have one the same in an oval which houses my Maple group. I hope to have a tree to match it one day.

Hi Budhi , the pot i was referring to is the training pot , the brown terracotta one , nice , plain , simple lines .Yes i do like the large tray but my tree wouldn't fit in it either .
Cheers Alpine

Bugger, i do not think it is going to come back. After care has been superb but i fear i have been to hard on it.

Gday Bodhi!
Looks pretty well crispified to me. What does the scratch test tell you?
What a drag...

The tree has not completely retracted its sap. there is none to any of the secondary's and i have completely trimmed the tree back to its main branching. There is a tiny glimmer. it is also not your healthy green when when you scratch the cambium but it is still wet..so

Natives and i have communication difficulties but i will soldier on.

Hi Bodhi, you may not end up with shoots higher up where you wanted but don't give up mate, i'm sure you already know

.
I have some mel that started off with alot less roots than your tree had at repot, I had given up almost completely even threw a couple out

but they are reshooting 5 months later. Seriously unbelievable, i still can't believe they're alive,, good luck

Hi Bodhi ,Thats my issue as well , i have some small ones i tortured and the looked like straw brooms . In a matter of 3 months they are very green however i did loose the top 1/3 which was basically the whole canopy . A lot of tree and trunks here have died due to lack of care over the last 3 months , i can always get more but each one was unique . Hope it strikes back , i was keen on the outcome of this trunk over the next year or two .
Cheers Alpine
