Hi John, only saw your post today about the terrible damage done to your bonsai and Japanese garden by that violent storm! Not to mention the drenching of the house... That is really shocking, and we are all very sorry for you here. I hope it doesn't spoil your whole Christmas. The insurance should pay for the damage to the TV - in your place I'd treat myself to a brand new, extra large LCD screen one as a small consolation.

That really is rotten luck.

You are lucky in only one minor way and that is that is was not later in the season and therefore a smaller amount of time for your trees to repair during the growing season. Try and seal a lot of the wounds to avoid infections and die back.

So sorry for you you can only try to heal them and they will grow back in time and they will have one of the best stories to tell. plus on the bright side you might end up with some really nice damage done to your trees which could give them even morre of an effect that they are older. this could just be mother nature saying why use carving tools when i can do it for you.

Ron im a bit warmer at 7 here atm. Big storm throught here last night and hail. luckily that mesh i put about the bonsai area to stop hail did its thing. weather is wierd . At least xmas looks a nice sunny 32 here

My heart felt sympathy Jorden , i know what its like to be hit by these freak storms .I have close to 150m of shade cloth covering my plants and 4 large shade sails just for the hail protection .It doesn't cover all the trees but at least the important ones . And the word is this sort of storm will be a regular occurance .Chin up mate . Alpine
