Re: PLANTS GALORE - TOO SCARED TO TOUCH
Hi guys,
Okay, I am stumped. I have been looking at this tree all day and I still dont know what style I want to use. The Chinese Juniper, it is fairly healthy looking, but I want to repot into larger one, and start training. The problem I have is not only do the branches look nice and healthy, I dont want to cut them in case i stuff it up and they dont grow back. Any suggestions.

What a great selection! You should be able to gather a broad range of skills, from working with this diverse range.
Chinese Juniper- Depends what you are trying to achieve mate. If your plan is to put girth on the trunk then the branches should stay. As Scott suggested I would not cut any branches, wire them and put some movement in them while they are still supple. Looking at the pics I'm guessing some gentle "s" curves will be fine, but I would bind them first if your thinking of doing some serious angles or they'll snap.

My only non-expert advice is to sit, wait and see the tree within. Eventually it will tell you what to do.

Re: PLANTS GALORE - TOO SCARED TO TOUCH
I agree with you totally. Just have to fight the urge to fiddle. Today I just pinched and pruned the Japanese Juniper and finally repotted a few of the cramped ones, only got a few more to do then it is sit back and wait.
Oh by the way, I am up on one count of murder. Killed my first plant, actually the wife over watered it, but I will take the hit because I didn't explain properly. Poor thing had major over water and root rot. Luckily/unlucky it was my first trial plant. Funeral being held tomorrow at noon. All are welcome, bring flowers and please no watering cans.
