I like the look of your tree but I too would remove that heavy branch with the wire on it. It fills what would be a beautiful negative area and removing it would add rhythm to the overall. I would also bring a back branch behind that area to add depth, so you see distant foliage not just wood. Up to the individual artist though. You could also damage the lower trunk with the tips of your scissors to add taper.
cheers

I haven't done any more work on this juniper. Taking on the advice I may work on it over the winter months.

Advice taken,

This is the result of the restyle. Due to the time of the year the tree has its winter colours on.

Regards,

Peter

Nice tree, photo and progression.

It would be nice to see this with a measurement gauge?

I think I have an idea on the size but I'm not so sure!

Good work in a couple of years anyway.
One of the fabulous things about growing bonsai is as you get old and decrepit your trees get old and beautiful

Update,

New pot. The lower branch has been stressed due to bugs but is slowly recovering.

Update,

All my Junipers have been infected by Juniper blight . Took awhile to diagnose. Used a fungicide and all the trees and are now recovering although some have been irreversibly damaged which will have to be restyled.

Peter

I have not heard of Juniper blight Peter. Can you outline some symptoms to watch out for please. Also what type of fungicide was successful?

Hi Neil,

I believe it is the following and I use a copper based fungicide which I use on my pines. Last year I thought it was red spider mite but the treatment did not work.

Thanks for that link Peter. Your tree is looking great and love it in its new pot.
