I'm grafting yellow and orange on my deep red boug (flowers as in the posted pic). The yellow thread was dying so I pulled it out. The orange thread is doing well. I think it's taking.

excellent! they will look great with the red, yellow will work great too! I have found with thread grafting you really need to drill the hole just a touch bigger but more importantly is the trimming of the branch that is to go through, I found the ones that I didnt defoliate the stem completly as far as i could go without damaging the new bud was best as if they jag on the hole inside the branch has died off.

what I have thread grafter is figs which grow pretty quickly up here, for a shoot that was around 3mm i used a 4.5-5mm drill bit, that gave it enough clearance to get it through without damage, but not so big it will take ages to grow and take.

Thanks jamie. I think I will be using some "water shoots" next time as they tend to be straighter and grow faster then normal branches. Thanks for the hints too.

Although I can't remember exactely where, but in Singapore some place I saw grafted Boug's and they looked brilliant.
Took me a while to wake up to what was going on tho'.

DK – nice one mate! I’ve been wanting to do the multi coloured grafting onto a boug for a couple of years, but just don’t have one big enough :/
