Just thought I'd get in on the act, surprised picture went in, usually too big. Raced down last night in the dark to take these when I read the thread, bit blury. I bought these as they at least have a single trunk, so I hope to fatten them up

Hey Loretta, Easy way to make them a single trunk, is to cut off all the shoots that appear low down:-)

Thats what I will be doing with mine that have low branching. Unless of course you want to grow a clump style tree :-)

They all Kurume Ken, they're very nice? If so, do you have many Satsuki? You seem to have a few Kurume, any reason for that? Just interested thats all, I like Kurume, cause their a lil' different, love the blooms of flowers and timing on flowers add for some colour in the garden this time of year. :)

Great shot Loretta! Pretty plant!
Regards, Mitchell.

I have 8 Satsuki I bought from Leigh this year

I have put them all in the ground to grow on and develop. I will photo ID them when they flower later in the year

these are either ones I bought from Riverveiw nursery, or were already planted here when we moved in :-)

thanks how does on tell the difference between Indica, and Kurume?

Usually the flowers of Karume are smaller than Indica. The difference between Satsuki, is the stamens are only 5, rarely more which also differ in length.

The Karume's I have shown are hybrids with Satsuki's

I thought I would post some pictures of my azalea I am not entirely sure what type of azalea it is so if anyone could i.d it that would be great. I have not had it long as you can see I have not done much to it yet.
I wanted to see it flower before I attacked it.
