HI Loretta, Thai temple bells, water jasmine... are common names for Wrigtia Religiosa. I know exactly what you mean. sideshoots and rootshoots are common with this species. This will be less of a problem when the tree mature enough. Otherwise we just have to cut the new shoots with a branch cutter or rub them of with your fingers. This can be done easily on older bark of the trees.

The stump in the picture with sideshoots and rootshoots everywhere is for sale if anyone insterested. This is a good opportunity for anyone who want heaps of root cuttings and/or work with a nice potential stump and a relatively rare species in OZ.

Hi Ent and Pierre, here it is. Not finished yet but the flowering has improved every year. I love the fragrance of the flowers at night and early morning.

When these things are in full flower, Kirky, it is not uncommon to not be able to see any green from the leaves at all. I had one tree in Darwin that was covered like that in flowers every other year. On the odd years the flowers weren't so many, but still presented a wonderful display.

Yeah. Flowers are great. Also cuttings take easily too. I got some cutting i did when chopping this tree that now turned into a decent cascade. Will post photos soon.
