Hi Grant,

With or without Jin..I like it both. It all depends on what the story is you'd like to tell about the tree.

Good luck with you recovery.

I love the tree and love the pot.
The jin is good in the original pot but clashes with the apex of the new pot.
Are we talking about this pot or one similar?
If you use a pot with a little less height you could keep the jin. JMHO

i reckon gerard might be onto something there, if the pot could be made with less height you will be on a winner if that is the only reason for the jin removal, removing or shortening that jin takes a bit away from the trees story i reckon, i reckon it is needed!

tough decision grant!

There aren't any of these pots in Canberra so I will have a look next time I am down in Melbourne. Its always difficult till you see, feel the pot and really get a handle on it.

Thanks for the feed back.

The present pot would seem to be a tad too dark and massive.

The jin is wild - a must-keep feature. The top of the new pot clashes with it, so not a good match.

Maybe a grey unglazed pot with a smaller base or a bit less visual mass?

Let the tree do the talking.

Just a thought. I'd love to have your "problem".

Thanks Pup,

A similar pot but without too much height may be the way to go.

Trying to find the progression of this remarkable tree, I know I saw it somewhere. Can anyone point me in the right direction? It was fascinating to see the many changes over the years :)

Yes thats the sort of thing.

Thanks to Pup I have the contact details for the local artist and will do some tracking down soon.

I will repot it this year as it has quite a few years in the same pot.

Grant, I make pots similar to those posted and in a range of sizes. You might see something you like at the convention.
