I've never heard of Diatomite before. I just "googled" it and it seems it is available from Hydroponic stores, is that correct? Is there any particular brand you would recommend? The Diatomite in hydroponics stores were too large; 15mm plus.
Get Maidenwell or Mt sylvia Diatomite in 2mm to 6.4mm approx.
Yes Coir fibre comes in bricks that swell up in water.
The mix above is roughly what I am using for everything except azalea where i use Kanuma.
