Slab trays and landscapes

ok here is another, this one feels a little busy to me but i think it is ok none the less.

ok, number three, used the smaller pot. also number 2 virt was the smaller pot i have spent a fair few hours on these, when you get some pics of your other trees for the larger pot i will get them sorted out tomorrow

Ok Jamie i noticed you have changed the colour of the rock outcrops , is this a hint .I know the orange look to the tray is enough to make you turn green , so i will post 2 pics today of the actual true colour .At this point i only have 2 colours light grey and light light brown and any combo of the 2 colours to make either darker . Cheers

thanks ant thanks for the extra pics Ian, the out crops i change just ffor a bit of drama, these could be left obviously as you can see i left the rim of the tray the natural colour, i did think the orage was a little bright though all good, i will use the darker one now, that wont need changing and the lighter one will look good with a different feel to it. i will work it with pine but i also think the lighter clay would look good with gums

i will get back to you with more today, i have some more ideas this morning after i got a few hours of sleep finally

Alpine those trays are real schmick! Could we create the outcrops from real stone? I made a tray last night but was thinking, of just moulding a nice looking rock into the surface. Not sure if it would work though.

if you could find the right rock you could definately set it into the setting, the trick would be finding an interesting rock, the other alternative would be to use much and set the rock into the tray, but then it would be just that, a tray not the actualy setting

My net is slow too, but if yours has stopped, i'll help. When you say "up to size" do you want them smaller, as they are massive...

im a little dissaponted with these two, the seedlings made things really hard to virt with, not having pads or the likes to work with it made it dificult to get them on the slab. im not sure bout the overall design either, it needs something more in on, and the other is a semi windswept design but i dont feel the drama in it, dynamic lacking i guess, it is definately easier with older specimens that have been worked on before planting. i think if the seedlings were larger of different sizes then it would help too, trying to get a main feature tree without distortion was hard, hence some distortion. i also feel there is to much moss used.
