Here are a couple of tree's that were airlayed using the ring bark method. Both as you can see have nice basal flair.
One is a Melaleuca linophylla sbpp the other is a privet. Both took 4 months before they were cut off.
Using sphagnum moss as the medium, the Privet had some clay added to that to help keep it damp.
Which was my second attempt at air layers.

The tornique method with the plywood looks interesting.
Can you use it on a larger slightly older tree?
If so I would have to cut the plywood in half and piece it around the tree as it wont fit over the branches I already have inplace. Id imagine then bracing it with some beading around the edge so that it hold solid.
Ever tried this?
